The Evolution of Dirty Books and Self-Worth

Once upon a time, they were just called “romance novels”. Hidden from view, stacked under beds, traded between friends like secrets. They were about passion and drama, forbidden glances and stolen kisses. The language was flowery, the tension slow-burning, and by today’s standards, probably PG-rated.

But oh, how times have changed.

Welcome to the era of “dirty books” — unapologetically bold, raw, sensual, and brimming with curiosity. They don’t just tease the imagination anymore.

 I couldn’t think of a more perfect theme for one of my most dedicated clients.

She’s probably up to shoot number 10 with me by now (I’ve honestly lost count), and each session is more fearless than the last. This woman knows herself, challenges herself, and keeps showing up — not for me, not for Instagram, but for HER..

This shoot was inspired by the dirty books she loves — the kind that let her escape the grind of everyday life and tap into that quiet fire inside.  These pages aren’t just fiction — they’re freedom. A reminder that women are allowed to want. To fantasise. To express. To play.

I’m so proud of this incredible woman who continues to put her self-worth first. Who makes time to reconnect with her body, her desires, and her power — not once, but again and again. Because that’s the beauty of it: you don’t have to wait for permission to celebrate who you are. You just have to “choose” yourself.

So here’s to dirty books, to boudoir, and to the women writing their own damn stories — one spicy chapter at a time.
