Trash The Dress
As the sole photographer at Blush Boudoir Studio, I’m always excited to explore new creative avenues with my clients. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of capturing a truly unique and empowering “trash the dress” session.
The Origin of Trash the Dress
Trash the dress, also known as “fearless bridal” or “rock the frock,” is a photography trend that began in the early 2000s. It’s a bold departure from traditional wedding photography, where the bride’s gown is preserved in pristine condition. Instead, this trend encourages brides to let loose and create striking, unconventional images in their wedding attire.
The trend started as a way for brides to symbolically express a new beginning or break from the past. By “trashing” their dress, they celebrate the end of one chapter and the start of a new one. For many, it’s a liberating experience that signifies embracing the future with confidence and creativity.
Our Adventure
On a stinking hot afternoon, we set out for an adventurous hike up North of Townsville. Lucille, Zoe, and I spent the afternoon hiking, I did a lot of whinging while Lucy and Zoe were in their element.
The Shots Speak for Themselves
The resulting images were nothing short of spectacular. The way the dress flowed in the water, the interplay of light and shadow, and the raw emotion captured in each shot told a powerful story. The photos encapsulated not just the beauty of the dress but the strength and resilience of the person wearing it.
